I teach both on a 1-to-1 basis and in groups.
 
In a private lesson, I gently guide your body in stillness and in movement to improve posture, coordination and breathing, teaching by touch and demonstration rather than by verbal instruction. Gradually you learn a new coordination and balance, which enhances both your mental and physical ease and freedom.

At the same time, I teach you to become aware of your habitual responses so that you can continue the teaching process outside the lesson. Over time, you become able to recognise habits for yourself, and gradually become your own teacher.

Most people find private lessons to be both calming and highly absorbing. Lessons last about 45 minutes and I do not charge. If you would like to make a donation, it would be most welcome.
 
In groups, the learning comes mostly from working in pairs and teams, with students discovering things about themselves during the games and exercises I employ. Group work is both stimulating and meditative, and great fun.

I will be starting two classes in September 2010 in Henfield, each lasting an hour. The first is AT Movement, which explores a different way of moving, using the principles of the Alexander Technique. The second is Self-awareness, which leads to a greater awareness of both yourself and your environment by using Alexander's principles. The two classes run consecutively, and you will have an enhanced experience if you attend both. They cost £4 each, or £6 for both.
